Rarely will a moment of inspiration hit me out of the blue without some sort of stimulus. This stimulus can come from anywhere.  It can come from a book, a song, a street scene or an article that I am in the middle of reading.  The important point is that, creative stimuli rarely strike from out of nowhere.

In our ongoing survey, the top ten places where we get our new ideas are:

10. Cutting the grass.
09. Listening to a church sermon.
08. Waking up in the middle of the night.
07. Exercising.
06. Reading.
05. During a boring meeting.
04. Falling asleep or waking up.
03. Sitting on the toilet.
02. Driving.
01. Taking a bath or a shower.

I can confess to #’s 1,2,3,4,6 on this list.  What’s the moral of this story?? Stimulate your mind as much as possible and with varying types of stimuli…you never know what might spark something interesting.
